Underwater Photography Workshop – Camp Artism
We were excited to volunteer to teach an underwater class for At Camp Artism which is a great organization pushing for the Autism awareness with the immersion of the arts. We wanted to show that anybody can learn photography skills to take beautiful portraits, regardless of one’s physical ability. Look at the great experience they had and the images they shot!
Thanks to Ikelite and Lens Pro to Go for sending their wonderful underwater housings for the workshop. Ikelite, a producer of high quality underwater camera housing, was very supportive in providing us with equipment essential to this workshop. Lens Pro to Go aided us in a smooth rental process, which is very helpful in the wide world of photography gear! We are appreciative to both companies, for with them we were able to conduct a very fun and educational experience to these wonderful campers!
Our experience at Camp Artism was great and we hope to have given the campers some love for photography! Mike Moreland started the workshop with a portfolio slideshow and information on how to capture beautiful images underwater. Everyone was very attentive and we received some great questions from Ms. Ashley Drayton, the founder and president of Camp Artism, as well as our model for the day!
Each camper took turns in the pool after some quick pointers from Mike. We helped everyone put on their weight belt, googles and made sure they understood how to use the underwater system and wow they got some great images! One at a time, they would go under with Mike a take a few shots a while Ms. Drayton was poising. The campers were naturals and everyone managed to work the equipment resulting in real underwater photographs!
Below is a few beautiful shots captured by the campers!
Aside from capturing amazing underwater photos, the kids of Camp Artism also assisted with the behind-the-scenes work! Their help is what achieved the perfect flowy look of the fabric. Thankfully, we had many assistants on hand! The campers got into the pool to help flow the fabric so each student had access to the perfect shot. We captured all of these images in 4 foot water.
