Rick Ferro Atlanta Wedding Workshop
On April 9, Fisheye Connect had the pleasure of partnering with Rick Ferro, internationally known wedding photographer, on his wedding workshop in Atlanta. The workshop focused on posing and getting the beautiful lighting that Rick has become known for as lead wedding photographer at Disney. Rick Ferro has been in photography for over 40 years and acts as lead wedding photographer at Disney World. He has worked with everyone from 7-Up to Mercedes Benz. If you missed this workshop, you missed out on a unique opportunity to learn from one of the most experienced wedding photographers in the nation.
The workshop was small and intimate, allowing each attendee time for one-on-one instruction with Rick Ferro. There were three locations for this workshop: Photoplex Studios in Alpharetta, Barrington Hall in Roswell, and Saint Brigid Catholic Church in John’s Creek. There were models from Ultimate Modeling Agency and all of the wedding dresses were provided by Wedding Angels and we had a makeup artist on site for the entirety of the workshop. Big Special thanks to Rotolight for sponsoring this workshop and providing all the lighting for Rick and the students!
What other workshop would provide you with three gorgeous locations, models in wedding attire, and one-on-one instruction with one of the leading wedding photographers in the nation?
The Workshop
First, as with many of our workshops, Rick Ferro’s Atlanta wedding workshop had a lecture portion where he went over the basics of studio lighting and hand posing. Each photographer that attended the workshop also got the opportunity to shoot. Rick Ferro was giving detailed instructions along the way. So not only did attendees learn about lighting and posing, but they also got to build their portfolios.
The workshop began at PhotoPlex studios in Alpharetta. Photoplex Studio is a member-based photography studios. They offer high end studio spaces and equipment rentals for photographers at all levels. The studio portion of the workshop went over studio lighting and how to create dramatic images with light and posing. See image above.
Then, the workshop went to Barrington Hall in Roswell. Barrington Hall is a gorgeous historical estate with some incredible columns, which every photographer at the workshop loved. This portion of the workshop focused on using artificial and natural lighting to create beautiful ambient lighting for wedding photos. See images above.
Finally, the workshop finished out at Saint Brigid Catholic Church. The main point of the church was to teach the attendees how to treat dark spaces in their photography. Rick Ferro used a Rotolight to create some beautiful images even though lighting inside the church was minimal. In addition to the Rotolight, he also had 4 other studio lights in the church that he used.
Overall, everyone who attended Rick Ferro’s Atlanta wedding workshop had a blast. They got the opportunity to learn from one of the leading wedding photographers in the nation. Additionally, they got the opportunity to take some incredible images of their own.
If you missed out on this workshop, don’t worry! Rick Ferro is hoping to be back over the summer to conduct a glamour workshop. This workshop will teach people just like you more about his vast knowledge of lighting. Here are a few more of our favorites!
