INSPIRATIONAL PHOTO OF THE DAY

FEC Editor’s notes: A dream come true for Ian Spanier, photographing three of the UCLA Gymnasts and their coach! Ian studied their floor routines online before visiting the gym in person. He knew their routines, so he could predict what would happen next, and when to click the shutter. Ian says, “The dynamic performances were impressive on a computer screen; they were utterly mind-blowing in person. Unlike in standard gym competitions, the UCLA trio added contemporary dance moves to fill the gaps between their flips, tumbles and – the mere sight made me wince – splits.” Putting a composite together like this one is fun when you have such expressive character coming out to play.
