INSPIRATIONAL PHOTO OF THE DAY
FEC Editor’s notes: Being aware of your surroundings is one of the most exciting things about being a photographer. You get the priveledge of noticing things lots of people miss. So when Morgan submitted this image for the photo of the day, I knew right away I needed to feature it. This image is not a composite! The sun has risen red over the Cascades in Washington because of the settling smoke in the atmosphere from the wildfires in California, Oregon and the British Columbia. It can be challenging to photograph the sun and the moon because people tend to way over expose them. You also have to be careful of not damaging the sensor of your camera if it’s a bright sun or moon. But here the lighting is soft because the sun hasn’t fully risen, and because of the smoky air. We love the perfect alignment and composition! Nice work, Morgan!
