INSPIRATIONAL PHOTO OF THE DAY
Photographer’s Notes: I’m a food and beverage photographer, so I work with restaurants, brands and on ad campaigns. But sometimes I need to take photos just for myself – the Pears photo is one such photo. Working in Chiaroscuro light – I think of this as Vermeer light, I leaned into the shadows and the subtle details on set. This photo is about slowing down – as a photographer and as an artist – and appreciating the process as much as the final outcome.

what an inspiration for International Slow Art Day, Sat. April 16th! Many years ago, a local artist, Linda Relis, demonstrated Chiaroscuro, with a dozen observers watching her canvas & the life model beyond. As she wiped away areas of the thick buttery paint covering the canvas, everyone gasped at the same moment, when the image practically jumped out of the canvas. Bouquets & Thank you. I love the image.
