Shooting for a Video Sequence

Rob and Vanessa will teach you how to tell a visual story with multiple angles, even if you only have one camera and one person! You'll learn how lens choices and dynamic camera placement help bring a story to life.

Filmmaking is all about story-telling.   To tell an effective story you need to have scenes that lay out what your eyes will see in order to decipher what's happening on-screen.  That's what sequencing is and in this workshop, Rob and Vanessa will teach you how to tell a visual story with multiple angles, even if you only have one camera and one person!   You'll learn how lens choices and dynamic camera placement help bring a story to life on the big screen.

This workshop covers:

  • Assessing a scene for where to place your camera
  • How to tell a story with multiple angles
  • How to avoid common filmmaking pitfalls
  • Using multiple takes to achieve a complete scene
  • How to give yourself options when editing
This story-telling technique can also be applied to photography.
